How to JIMMY Vegas and the Drag Report

By Jimmy Emerson

Norma Llyaman

Entertainer and friend Norma Llyaman was on my “How to Jimmy Show” recently, and we had a great time.

This stage-fright Bohemian eccentric performer (Jim McCoy) has been delighting audiences and wayward souls for the past two decades. As vaudeville meets sideshow, Norma is a crowd favorite! Though her rose is second-hand, she finds every spotlight and freshens the cocktails with her burly burlesque cabaret charisma! Norma is Fanny Brice, Ethel Merman and everyone’s favorite Auntie all baked into one delicious Bundt cake!

Her on-stage and social media adventures are comedic, campy and crazier than most have ever seen.

Norma resides in Las Vegas and has played on the infamous STRIP and many local watering holes! She has made command performances with Cirque du Soleil and opened The Park Theatre before Cher took the stage! Norma dedicates every show to making people laugh, smile and drink like there is no tomorrow!

Her upcoming events:

“Hairspray” at The Phoenix Bar and Lounge: April 13 and 14

A Night of Illusions at the Nevada State Museum: April 20 at 7 p.m. This free event includes a tour of the Liberace Exhibit and a fabulous drag show!

Old Broads, Ballads and Booze Lounge Show: April 21 at 2 p.m. at The Phoenix Bar and Lounge

PRIDE PARTY – Variety Show at The Phoenix Bar and Lounge: May 4 at 7 p.m.

Thanks for keeping us up to date with all the things you do!

Someone’s birthday is coming up, and we will celebrate it at a show!

The much-anticipated Follies at the Aliante Casino has arrived. The show opens April 11, and runs through April 14. I will attend the Friday night, April 12, show to celebrate my birthday with my wonderful husband, Jimbo, and my good friends from Whatsup.Vegas platform Lyn Collier, Debbie Hall and Damon Blumberg.

Andrea McArdle, Clint Holmes, and Nicolas King

One of the featured special acts is one of my favorite Broadway singers, Andrea McArdle. A good friend and cast member from “Follies,” Suzanne Jipson, has set up a private interview between Andrea and me. I am very excited about it—I feel like a star-struck fan! I will be showing the interview on my next edition of “How to JIMMY Vegas,” which you can always check out at www.whatsup.vegas.

Tammy Sprayette

This is a reminder that the NGRA is presenting “The Closet Ball” on April 13. It will be held at the Badlands Saloon, 953 E. Sahara Ave., starting at 7 p.m. They are looking for men and women who haven’t performed drag in the past year. The prize is the coveted title of “Closet Ball 2024.”

Speaking of the NGRA (Nevada Gar Rodeo Association), the annual “Big Horn Rodeo ” begins on May 23, and runs through May 26, with all sorts of rodeo events and performances by the winners of NGRA preliminary contests, and several local celebrities. I will host and perform on Saturday, May 25 from 7 to 10 p.m. This all takes place at Horseman’s Park, 5800 E. Flamingo Road. Just a note: I will NOT be performing Beyoncé’s “JOLENE”, but for those of you that know, I WILL be performing my infamous character “Tammy Spraynette”.

Mad Hatter’s Tea Party Comes To Las Vegas

Step into the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland at The Silverton‘s Shady Grove Lounge, transformed into the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. This over-the-top pop-up bar, open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5-10 p.m., is a feast for the senses. The space is adorned with larger-than-life flowers and vibrant settings, creating an enchanting atmosphere that will transport you. Don’t miss your chance to experience this magical pop-up, open until June 2.

Our visit to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party was not just about the ambiance and drinks. We also had a blast with the Mad Hatter Puzzle Hunt, a series of Alice in Wonderland-themed puzzles. By solving these puzzles, we were in the running for a grand prize: a staycation at the Silverton Casino Hotel and a delectable dinner for two at Twin Creeks Steakhouse. It was a fun and rewarding experience that added an extra layer of excitement to our evening.

The Welcome to Las Vegas Sign Outshines the Eclipse

Although there might have been an eclipse on April 8, it was still the perfect day for Clark County to declare April 8 as Follies Day. Surrounded by showgirls, public officials, and VIP guests, the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign was illuminated by throwing a big switch to the show’s signature red and yellow. It took 52 years, but Follies will finally be performed for six performances, April 11-14, in Las Vegas at Access Showroom at Aliante Casino.

Hot Guys Lathering Up Your Cars

We love our hot men. Add some soap, and the hottest male showboys, dancers and acrobats will lather up (cars) during the car wash to benefit Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) ‘s third annual Studs & Suds car wash fundraiser at Gipsy (4605 Paradise Road) on April 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Performers from Chippendales, Rouge and Beyond Brunch at Area15 will be on hand to soap up and scrub cars. Proceeds from the event will go directly to the 34th Annual AIDS Walk Las Vegas, which will take place April 28, at the Las Vegas Ballpark. Suggested donations for small cars begin at $20. For more information, visit afanlv.org.
