REALTOR: ROB SCHLEGEL, Elite Realty

Rob Schlegel moved to Las Vegas in 1974 to become production manager for the Valley
Times (daily) newspaper, eventually acting as the de facto general manager. During the
next 45 years, Rob owned, operated and edited several publications in Southern Nevada,
including 16 years as publisher of the Las Vegas Bugle and later the Las Vegas Spectrum.
Rob has been active in politics and has chaired the political endorsement committee for
two local publications. He has actively lobbied for reforms in Nevada, especially as laws
relate to social justice and equality-based civil rights for the LGBTQ and women’s
communities.
As a community leader, he participated in or helped found numerous charitable events
and organizations. He served on numerous boards, including Metropolitan Community
Church, Community Counseling Center, Lambda Business Chamber of Commerce,
Bright Star Foundation and Bridge Counseling. Other board positions have included the
ACLU of Nevada, Nevadans for Constitutional Equality and The (LGBTQ) Center. He is
a founder and past president of the LGBTQ pride organization in Las Vegas and
organized Las Vegas’ first pride parade.
In 1988, Rob opened Bright Pink Literature, Nevada’s only feminist, gay, lesbian and
recovery bookstore. An offshoot of the bookstore was Bright Pink Cinema, Las Vegas’
first LGBTQ film festival.
Since 2002, Rob has been a licensed Nevada real estate agent and Realtor with Elite
Realty. While he primarily does residential sales, he consistently ranks in the top 20% of
all local agents for completed transactions. Rob explained, “I firmly believe that everyone
should own their own home, which is the only way to build wealth and end the cycle of
constant rent increases. I will come up with creative solutions to help make that happen,

Rob is married to Renato “Lucas” Navarro Schlegel. The couple lives in Las Vegas with
