They did party with purpose

Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains held its annual fundraiser Party on Purpose Sept. 12.

Adrienne Mansanares, PPRM CEO, talked about the importance of providing our community with sexual and reproductive health services. She praised The Center and its new health care facility and talked about the political landscape and how the organization is helping in the fight to secure the right to abortion in Nevada.

Emcee Norma Llyaman (Jim McCoy) kept things lively and camped it up with Broadway music and jokes. He talked about his research on Planned Parenthood and how he discovered how much it serves the LGBTQ+ community.

“My community needs Planned Parenthood,” he said from the stage.

Whatsup.Vegas’ good friend Alice Robertson received the Joyce Mack Walk the Talk philanthropic award.

She gave a moving speech that brought the house.

“I am continually inspired by the work being done here and by the incredible impact it has on the community. I am proud to be part of this journey, as I have now for almost 50 years. And I am committed to continuing my support to ensure that this vial work can expand and reach everyone who needs it.”

Briana Escamilla, PPRM’s director of regional organizing, gave an update on her team’s work in Nevada to help secure the right to abortion.

Mansanares said the event raised more than $60,000 for Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada. But you can still donate by clicking here.

The group is looking for people to join its host committee to help grow the event. If you are interested in finding out more, reach out to Carole Baran, manager of special events at [email protected]
