SILVER STATE EQUALITY UPDATE

Statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization, Silver State Equality, will hold its fifth Equality Luncheon June 25 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Tuscany, 255 E. Flamingo Road. The event will include updates on the recent Nevada Legislative session.

In addition, the office is calling for people in the community to call Gov. Joe Lombardo to ask him to sign Assembly Bill 416. It would prohibit limiting the access of students and the public to library materials of schools and public libraries. This means that books and other materials that contain LGBTQ+ themes and characters cannot be removed, hidden, defaced or mislabeled without going through a rigorous process. Additionally, it protects library and school staff who display materials in accordance with the law from harassment, according to a written statement by Silver State Equality.

Call the Governor’s Office: (775) 684-5670
