The Women’s March Foundation has announced the Cancellation of The People’s March, originally scheduled for Jan. 18, in response to the ongoing devastation caused by the wildfires affecting the Los Angeles community.

“Our hearts ache for our beloved Los Angeles. The devastating wildfires have displaced so many of our neighbors, leaving families and communities struggling to heal and rebuild,” said Emiliana Guereca, President of Women’s March Foundation.

“In light of this crisis, we have made the difficult decision to cancel The People’s March.”

The organization emphasized that resources and attention should be focused on the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires. “We cannot, in good conscience, use resources that can be better directed toward on-the-ground efforts to aid those in need. Our community deserves time to grieve, to come together, and to find a path forward,” said Emiliana Guereca, Co-Founder of the Women’s March Foundation.

The Women’s March Foundation remains committed to supporting the Los Angeles community and encourages everyone to contribute to the relief efforts. Trusted organizations providing support include:

California Community Foundation: California Community Foundation was founded in 1915 to support Los Angeles County communities. The organization has resources for fundholders, and donors interested in supporting recovery efforts. Its Wildfire Recovery Fund supports long-term solutions for fire-prone communities to prepare for fires.

“To the brave first responders and volunteers working tirelessly. We see you, we honor you, and we thank you. Los Angeles is resilient because of people like you. Together, we will rise stronger,” said Guereca.

The Women’s March Foundation is a leading organization dedicated to advocating for women’s rights and social justice. Through activism, education, and community building, the Foundation strives to create a world where all women are empowered and their rights are protected.
