Earlier this year, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) posthumously celebrated Las Vegas community leader Gavin Goorjian as an LGBTQ+ hero for his advocacy and a transformative $3.6 million gift. The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada also recognizes individuals for their heroic contributions annually at its gala, the Honorarium, for Gavin J. Goorjian (awarded posthumously).
In August 2025, the HRC announced a historic bequest from Goorjian, a beloved community leader who passed away in 2022. Known as a beacon of courage and compassion, Goorjian was a lifelong advocate for LGBTQ+ visibility, justice, and inclusion.
His $3.6 million gift is one of the largest bequests HRC has ever received. It will fund programs to advance the rights and dignity of LGBTQ+ people nationwide.
Goorjian’s generosity and vision continue to drive the fight for a more equitable future in his memory.
